謝謝聖城通訊願意與20/20同工合作，開闢「20/20的聲音」專欄來讓團體內弟兄姊妹們用短文(約中文300-500字)表達心中的理想和對我們團體未來的期望，因為我們相信天主已經在大家心中播下種子，讓我們明白祂對我們團體未來的召叫。我們的目的是願意從許多角度聽到各種不同的聲音，以激發大家對團體未來的思考及準備，但不是要影響大家的觀點，更不會壓抑任何聲音。以下幾篇短文只是團體中一些教友意願的範例，並不一定代表全團體的共識或決定20/20的方向。我們也很願意聽到您對我們團體未來的期望，來稿請寄[email protected]，或請電邵聖春(408) 865-0207。我們希望能夠刊登每一篇我們收到的短文，但由於我們的能力與篇幅有限，每次只能刊登一至二篇，但每一位教友的意見一定會將納入考量中。

青年及少年的發展                                                           劉新華

相信大家都知道青少年是我們團體的未來希望及夢想、更是我們的接班人。如果我們忽略了他們的存在和他們身心靈各方面的發展，又沒有一個好的計劃去培養他們，那麼他們很快便會長大離開我們團體，去找尋適合他們需要的地方。我們也應該積極地培養青少年對團體的歸屬感，以及對自己中華文化的認知，使他們更加清楚的瞭解中國天主教徒身份的責任和使命。

青少年一般都是充滿幹勁與活力的，也有很多的青少年有很好的創意。如果我們能充份利用他們的長處，讓他們多參與團體的未來計劃及長遠目標的事奉工作，我深信他們會更投入，也更願意為天主奉獻自己。更希望透過這些培育計劃，能為我們的教會培養出一些聖召呢！

SJCCC未來傳播福音的焦點及方向                            廖煥中

我對於來自中國大陸居住在灣區的個人及家庭，懷有傳播福音的強烈使命感。從中國近代史來看，先是鴉片戰爭侵略中國的基督教國家造成對信仰的負面影響，繼而共產黨統治中國後所發動的文化大革命，將信仰摧毀幾乎成真空狀態，即使到今日改善仍極其有限。

然而，就我們與最近來自中國教友的接觸經驗，來自中國第一代的新移民，對於追求信仰及滿足靈性生命的渴望，正如同我們當初移民來美國時一樣。但是我們華人天主教團體對於這些新移民的福傳工作是如此的缺乏，我們怎麼能夠忽略放在我們眼前這麼大好的福傳機會。

為準備SJCCC團體能開拓這個全新的領域，我們應該開始計劃吸收來自中國第一代的新成員進入SJCCC的核心領導小組，透過LA Congress(洛杉磯天主教傳協會)，聖荷西教區及我們的團體，給予他們適當的訓練。這點是非常重要的一個步驟，因為他們以前僅有少許甚至完全沒有參與教會的事工經驗，讓他們開始參與教會的決策及事工。在未來的兩年內，能有超過20%以上的同工為來自中國大陸的教友，並繼續擴大及成長，累積更多的經驗，讓這個核心領導小組能為SJCCC未來二十年，設定實際的目標，有效的吸引更多來自中國的兄弟姐妹加入神國的大家庭。

　

Voices of 20/20

We appreciate the editorial staff of Holy City for partnering with the 20/20 team to publish a monthly column called “Voices of 20/20”.  This column will enable members of our community to share their dreams and their hope for the future of SJCCC in short articles (about 200-300 English words).  We believe God has sown seeds in our hearts that will help us find His calling for our community. 

 

We hope to hear a variety of voices from different perspectives, to stimulate our thinking and preparation for the future.  We do not intent to steer people’s mind towards any ideas or to censor any thoughts.  The articles below are just some examples of inspirations from a few of our brothers and sisters.  They do not necessarily represent the views of the community or of the 20/20 Team.

 

We would also like to hear your dreams for the future!  Please send your input to [email protected], or contact Arthur Shao at (408) 865-0207.  We would like to publish all the articles we receive, but due to the limited space and capacity, we will only be able to publish one or two per month.  Please be assured that all the ideas and opinions will be put into serious consideration during the 20/20 process.

Youth and young Adults Development Tony Lau

The youth and young adults in the community are our hope, our dream, our future as well as our successors.  If we don't establish and develop a program to nurture our youth and young adults, eventually they will leave and find a place that takes care of their needs.  Also, I believe we need a program to establish their sense of belonging to the community and to the Chinese culture, so that we do not lose our culture and our identity (as Chinese Catholics) in this country.

 

Youth and young adults are usually more energetic and creative.  If we can get them involved in planning the future and our long-term goals, I believe we may have some new insight.  I also hope that we can establish a program that would develop future vocations in the community.

Evangelical focus for SJCCC                                   Simon Liao


I have a strong feeling that future evangelical activities need to be more focused on first generation immigrants from Mainland China living in the Bay Area.  Given the recent history of China (i.e. the Opium War, which gives Christianity a negative image; the Communist take-over; followed by the Cultural Revolution), in general, religion in China has pretty much been in a vacuum.  There seems to be little improvement even today!  However, the latest experiences we have encountered with new immigrants from Mainland China, first generation newcomers from the mainland have the same eagerness, if not more so, to seek a fulfilling spiritual life as we had when we first came to the United States.  But the evangelical work targeted at them from the Chinese Catholic community is definitely lacking!  We simply cannot ignore the fact that the opportunity is tremendous!

 

To prepare SJCCC to embrace this new frontier, I propose that we start inviting members from Mainland China (first generation) into SJCCC's core team ("tong gong"), giving them adequate training thru opportunities like LA Religious Congress, the Diocese, plus our own efforts.  Many of them have had very little or no experiences with religious activities before coming to the U.S.   We need to involve them in our decision-making processes.  The goal would be to have at least 20% of the core team made up of brothers and sisters from Mainland China in the next two years.  With this diversified background and experience, this new core leadership will enable SJCCC to set more realistic goals and to address them more effectively, which will help SJCCC attract more of our brothers and sisters from the mainland to our faith and to grow our community for the next 20 years.
